8 Weeks

Your baby's the size of a raspberry!

Now she weighs in (yay!) at about .04 ounces and measures about .63 inches. This week, she's growing about a milimeter each day.  You can't feel it yet, but she's moving those arms and legs like crazy!  Her fingers and toes are now only slightly webbed, and her tail (yes, she had one) is gone.  Fun fact: your baby's taste buds are now forming.

Feeling pretty good; still get tired very easily.  Most days I nap with the kids which means not much is getting done around the house.  Thankfully, Michael has stepped up and done quite a few things that I just haven't gotten to lately.

Had our first appointment yesterday.  Everything looks good.  My Dr. put my due date a week later on the 18th.  Not sure why, I'm thinking she put in the wrong date for last menstruation on her little chart.  Our first ultrasound will not be until 20 weeks so I'm a little bummed about not being able to see the baby early like we did last time.

Destruction

I swear, Patrick has to destroy at least 3 things every day.  Today, he found the bag of Chex mix that I keep upstairs incase I get a queasy stomach.  This he proceeded to dump on the floor and step all over.  I have more crumbs that I know what to do with.  I send him and the twins I watch down stairs to watch a movie.  While I'm getting a drink for one of the girls Patrick climbs on to the glass endtable and knocks the lamp over.  The lamp shade shatters as well as the light bulb.  I locked him in his room so I could clean it up.  Now, he's pulling the stuffing out of the arm of the couch.

7 Weeks = Blueberry

Your baby's the size of a blueberry!

Your .51-inch embryo doesn't exactly tip the scales just yet but she's developing like crazy. She's already doubled in size since last week.  She's generating about one hundred new brain cells each minute!  Not only is her brain becoming more complex, but her heart is too.  Also important: She's developing a permanent set of kidneys.  Her arm and leg joints are now forming.

Me, I'm still feeling good.  I've been getting a little queazy if my stomach is empty and very tired lately.  When it's nap time for the kiddo's it's nap time for me.  I'm already starting to feel like my pants aren't fitting anymore.  I'm too early to be showing, but only one pair of my pants fit right now and they are my "fat" pants.  I picked up two pairs of sweatpants so now I have three pairs to wear.

Baby Naming

Michael has been pretty laid back about choosing a name for the baby as he was with Patrick.  I got to make up a list for him to okay and then I picked from that list.  I came up with about 5 names that I like and Michael scratched out a few.  We picked out a middle name for a boy name and have the first name narrowed down to two.  For a girls name we have the first name picked out but I'm tossing around a few middle names.

Boy = Colin Robert or Declan Robert
Girl = Evangeline Ann/Evangeline Elizabeth/Evangeline Astrid (Michael isn't too keen on the last one)

Pumpkin Carving

Patrick and Daddy carved a pumpkin yesterday.  Patrick wouldn't wait.  All morning he saying "punkin".  We picked up a little tool set to help with the carving of the pumpkin.  It came with a scoop and a little saw.  Needless to say, Patrick was most fascinated with the saw.  It wasn't sharp so he was able to touch it.

After nap, they started to carve the pumpkin.  Patrick didn't want to touch the pumpkin guts; he kept saying yucky.  He did practice using the saw on the top of the pumpkin.  Once all cleaned, Daddy and Patrick used the saw to make a train on the pumpkin.  Patrick loved it.

6 Weeks

FYI, this will be a weekly update.

Baby's now the size of a sweet pea!

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, and chin. Those little hands and feet -- still webbed like paddles -- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

I'm feeling great so far.  No morning sickness yet (fingers crossed).  I do get tired easier but that has been it.

Most women are just now finding out they are pregnant.  It amazes me that with a heart beat and it's own blood you can legally kill this small wonderful baby.  Makes me so sad, especially when there  are people who would love to have that child.

21 months

It's been a while since I've done an update on Patrick.  His will be 21 months in 2 days; only 3 more months until he is 2.  I know those months will go fast with all the holiday preparation and hussel and bussel.

Patrick is my little mountain climber.  He climbs up into the kitchen sink and most recently learned to climb up on top of his changing table.  Once there, he has dumped out the baby powder and squeezed out some of his diaper rash cream.  Patrick has learned to climb out of his crib, so we moved him to a toddler bed.  He is still down stairs next so his room is crowded with both a toddler bed and his crib.  He does well at night staying in his bed, but we still struggle a little with naps.

Patrick is saying so many words now.  I'm still guessing at some of the words he says but most of his words are pretty clear and easy to understand.  Tonight a dinner he asked for more kiwi by name.  He has also named the baby.  Every night before bed we pray and thank God for our coming baby.  I tell him to say "Thank you for our baby."  Patrick says "thank you, Choo Choo" and then laughs and laughs.  He is so silly at time.

5 Weeks

Your baby's the size of an appleseed!

Your embryo is now measurable -- though at week five, it's a wee .13 inches -- and she's gearing up for much more growth. At five weeks, she's already starting to form major organs (heart, stomach, liver, kidney) and systems (digestive, circulatory, nervous).  In fact, in the next week, she'll almost double in size. Grow baby grow!

Gender Trend

I've noticed a trend in the gender of babies that are being born to friends.  Right before we had Patrick every body I knew was having boys.  From June until we had Patrick that next January.  Then the trend switched to everyone having girls.

This continued from February until this June.  Michael's cousin then made the switch back to every one having boys when their son was born in July.

Now, all my friends and family who are pregnant are having boys.  Does this mean we will be having another boy??

Toddler Bed

Patrick has learned to climb out of his crib.  This has resulted in numerous occasions on me putting him back in his crib at bed time.  During nap times I've resorted to putting him in his travel bed.  It is a little tent that zips close.  I moved his toddler bed down stairs into the nursery.

Last night I put him to bed in the toddler bed and closed his door.  I didn't go in to check on him until I knew he was sleep.  As I opened the door, I hit Patrick with it.  He had fallen asleep right next to the door.  I moved him to his bed and he slept in the bed the rest of the night.

I did the same thing for nap time today.  I put him in his bed and didn't check on him until I knew he was asleep.  This time I found him on the floor half under the bed.

Wonder where I'll find him tonight.
