Help I Can't Speak

As we've been house shopping I've discovered that I need an English lesson. There are certain words that I have a hard time spelling and so chose to use a different word in its place. The reason I have difficulty with these words is that I pronounce them wrong and therefore spell them the way that I pronounce them. This results in a lot of little red underlined words that frustrate me.

The one that started this whole thing: REALTOR. I don't pronounce the word as realtor, I pronounce the word as realator. I've taken to just to using the word agent instead. I had to ask Michael how to spell the word. This lead to a discussion about other words that I say wrong and can't spell.

Other words I do this with:

Album (I say alblum)
Chess (the game, I call it chest)
Supposedly (I say supposibly, thanks Rachel for that one)

Housing Update

We put in an offer on a bank owned house in FDL. We didn't offer much less than the list price and were not surprised when the bank countered back at the list price. We accepted the offer and are now in the process of getting a home inspection and starting the mortgage papers.

Our home inspection is going to take place on Monday and we meet with the mortgage loan officer on Tuesday. So far things have gone smoothly and we pray the rest of the process does as well. We are going to get the mortgage through the bank that owns the house right now. That should make things go smoother. Here is a picture of our soon to be home. I had to blur out the for sale sign for something else.

Five Question Friday

It has been a while since I have done this. It's been a busy couple weeks with house hunting and Valentine's Day.

1. What do you do when you are really upset to calm yourself down?
I usually hide away and listen to music. I sometimes will also go for a walk.

2. Do you go all out for V-day or is it just another day?
This year we actually went to look at a home for the second time so we stopped to eat at Faro's. We went there for breakfast the day after our wedding. Normally, we just stay home and hang out.

3. Are you more or less productive when Hubs is away?
I'd say a little more productive but more gets done when he is here. Hubby pitches in and helps with me and so more things get done.

4. What is your favorite time of day and why?
I love the mornings when Patrick just wakes us and likes to cuddle. It's just the two of us. My other favorite time is after Patrick goes to bed and I have time to my self for the first time.

5. What is your go to karaoke song?
I don't have a go to karaoke time, but Michael does. He usually sings "Riders of the Storm."

Put in an Offer

We put in an offer on a house in FDL yesterday. We are very excited and hope to hear back from the buyer before the weekend. We may have to wait until Monday, but most likely we will hear by close of business Friday. We did offer a little less than the list price but not much since the house is a foreclosure and priced very well anyway.

I never realized that putting in an offer on a house took so much paper work. OH MY! It took us over an hour to go over all the papers and sign them. Patrick did well, walked around the room and opened drawers. I was hoping the paper work would only take maybe 30 minutes, not 75 minutes.

House Hunting 103

Beware of locking doors when looking at houses.

We were looking at homes yesterday in Fond Du Lac. The last house we looked at was near Michael's Grandparents. You can look out the kitchen window into their backyard. Since the house is a foreclosure it was empty and I let Patrick wander around on his own. There isn't anything to break or destroy, so I felt he would be safe. I, by the way, loved this house.

We were talking with our realator about this house and some others we have looked at and Patrick went down the hall to one of the bedrooms. He shut the door and was talking and walking around in the room. He's done this before, so I didn't think anything about it until it was time to leave. When I went to open the door, it was locked.

There was no outside release to unlock it and we didn't have any screw drivers with take the door knob off. Patrick was still quite happy in the room. Michael ran over to his Grandparents home to borrow a small screwdriver. By this time Patrick had realized that he couldn't get out and started to cry. 5 minutes later we got him out of the bedroom.

First thing I would change if we go with that house, new doors without locks.

Five Question Friday

1. What have you done recently that you are proud of?
Not sure, what is recently? I finished my nephew's baby quilt that took me close to 2 years to do. I didn't work straight, mostly off and on during that time.

2. What is your favorite way to work out? Or if you don't workout, what are you wanting to try?
Zumba, I've heard it is a lot of fun and is like dancing. I would like to try it but don't have the money to join a class.

3. If you knew your best friend was cheating on their spouse would you tell?
Yes, after I gave my friend time to confess to their spouse first.

4. If you could afford a live-in maid or nanny, would you have one?
I'm not sure, probably the maid if they were also a chef. With the nanny, I prefer to raise my children my-self, but if I had to have a nanny a live-in would be nice. It would be a good way to see their personality and life philosophy.

5. Do you stress out about birthdays (specifically the age) or do you enjoy them?
I enjoy them. I'm proud of my age and not afraid to tell people how old I am. I don't stress out about getting old, it will happen no matter what I do.

Sickness is Spreading

Well, we've been through our first bought of illness. Sunday night Patrick vomited all over his crib. The next day diarrhea started and it has continued most of the week. Needless to say, he passed the bug to Michael and I. I seem to be over most of it, but poor Michael is still suffering. He always gets the worst of it. We picked up some Pedialyte for Patrick and he's been nursing a lot more since he's been having a hard time keeping down solids. Our family diet for the last two days has consisted of rice, banana, bread, and noodles with broth. I'm ready for a good hamburger or fired chicken right about now.
